Out of Breath.

I don't think I have ever sweat as much as I did hiking up Pack Manadnock 3 days ago. We had been hiking for over an hour up the blue line and Brayden was just tired! The poor little guy had walked most of that hour. Our pack included 3 out of shape women, 1 -2 year old, and two labordors. By the time Lisa said, "Just one more hill!" for the 5th time, I was exhausted. Sweating through layers of warmth, my legs felt like they were going to collapse. Every step, I reminded myself that I could do this. I could climb this mountain and make if over that "one more hill"...carrying 37 extra pounds of my 2 year old.

We made it to the top and I felt like I deserved a hand of applause or a trophy or something! But, there was nothing...nothing but, rest. A seat, a snack, and a satisfaction met me at the top!

I won't tell you about the 1.4 mile hike down the road that we took. Ha, lets just say, my van looked better than ever. It held a seat (for me and Brady--who I carried the whole 1.4 miles) and warmth.

Ah, funny how God shows Himself to me in everyday situations. As He beckons us to come to Him--through each difficulty, as He asks much of us, as He encourages us along life's pathway...He continues to give me rest. Rest for my soul, rest for my mind, and rest for my body.
